Lakehead University is a public research university with campuses in Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1946, it is ranked number one in Canada for research in the category of undergraduate universities and is #9 on MacLean’s Primarily Undergraduate list. Lakehead University has 75+ undergraduate programs, 30+ graduate programs, the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, and is home to the western campus of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, in partnership with Laurentian University.

With more than 45,000 alumni, the main campus in Thunder Bay has some 7,900 students. In September 2006, a new permanent extension campus opened in Orillia, located about 150 kilometers north of Toronto, and is home to more than 1,100 students.

Lakehead University boasts 94.4% employment within two years, transfer agreements with all Ontario colleges on 20+ programs, and a diverse student body, with more than 9% of its students coming from 50+ countries worldwide.

Lakehead’s Faculty of Graduate Studies is responsible for overseeing more than 30 graduate programs at the masters and doctoral levels, including engineering, computer science, business management, economics, physics and much more.
